Finanzcheck.de gives borrowers transparent and fair access to suitable loans with favourable conditions. In February 2021, Finanzcheck.de was acquired by smava who works with Planetly to create transparency about the company’s carbon footprint.
With Planetly’s support, Finanzcheck.de calculated its CO2 emissions for 2020 and offset all unavoidable emissions by supporting high-impact climate action projects. Planetly also supports Finanzcheck.de in developing sustainable reduction strategies.
Since its foundation in 2010, Finanzcheck.de has become one of the leading credit portals in Germany.
Finanzcheck.de's goal is to continuously minimise its carbon footprint and become carbon neutral. With Planetly, Finanzcheck.de is putting this plan into practice.
Finanzcheck.de’s carbon footprint comprises the sum of greenhouse gases that are released into the atmosphere by all aspects of the company’s operations. A large proportion of these emissions comes from Finanzcheck.de's office operations, employee commute and business travel as well as external services the company uses.
Finanzcheck.de’s carbon footprint takes into account not only direct and energy-related emissions (scope 1 and scope 2) but also indirect emissions that occur outside the organisation (scope 3).
The largest share of Finanzcheck.de’s footprint is caused by emissions in scope 3, with the biggest emission driver being purchased goods and services that Finanzcheck.de uses. This includes, for example, marketing services, telecommunications or freelancers that Finanzcheck.de works with.
In order to reduce its carbon footprint, Finanzcheck.de switched all office locations to green electricity.
Finanzcheck.de has a generous home office policy which allows employees to work from home, thus reducing the commuting of employees. They also subsidise the use of public transport by offering a company ticket.
Finanzcheck.de offset residual emissions by supporting a hydro project in Turkey, a biogas project in China, a wind energy project in India and a clean water project in Sierra Leone. All projects are certified by the highest standards.
